Apple discontinued the HomePod

A few years ago, Apple launched the HomePod smart speaker. It felt like it was Apple’s reaction to the influx of smart speakers we saw in the market, but as expected, Apple had to put its own spin on it by claiming it had better audio quality and all that jazz. Unfortunately, the high price was not appreciated by many.

Apple has officially confirmed that the HomePod has been discontinued. In a statement to TechCrunch, the company stated that the speakers will continue to be sold while supplies last, and that they will continue to be supported by software updates and serviced through Apple Care.

Note that the HomePod setting only applies to the larger model. The HomePod mini is a separate device that Apple will continue to sell. In a way, we can’t say we’re surprised. The HomePod mini’s lower price tag has made it much more appealing to users who want a smart speaker and aren’t necessarily interested in the best possible audio quality.

So if you prefer the larger HomePod, this is pretty much your only and last chance to get your hands on it before it’s too late.
