Apple said Friday it is replacing AirPods Pro headphones with sound issues.
These issues include static or crackling noise that increases in noisy environments and active noise cancellation issues.
According to Apple, AirPod professionals made after October 2020 don't have the problem.
Owners who are having trouble can contact Apple online or schedule an appointment at an Apple Store to have their AirPods Pro replaced for free. Only devices that have been confirmed to have a problem will be replaced.
The replacement only applies to the buds, not the loading case. Apple doesn't offer a similar program for other AirPod models.
Sizzling issues with AirPod professionals were reported by users earlier this year. In May, Apple posted support documents on its website with advice on how to troubleshoot the issue. These units have been replaced under warranty.
Apple's AirPods are a popular line of wireless headphones. Apple does not split AirPods sales, but recorded $ 7.8 billion in sales of other products, including AirPods and other headphones and the Apple Watch, for the quarter ended September.
