NARS Scandalous Air Matte Blush Evaluation & Swatches
NARS Scandalous Air Matte BlushNARS Scandalous Air Matte Blush ($ 30.00 for 0.21 oz.) Is a medium black raspberry with subtle, cool undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had sheer paint coverage in a single layer – it shimmered almost instantly when applied in person – and couldn't be built up as any attempt to do so merely lifted off the first layer of product.
The texture felt like a velvety, almost whipped, mousse, with moderate slip but not the inherent wetness one would associate with a traditional cream blush. The formula turned powdery as soon as it came in contact with the skin, and it was difficult to diffuse and fade out from the start. The main problem I had was with the product itself being pillaged so I couldn't easily get an even layer of product without really squeezing and re-crushing it, almost like pieces of dry dough. I managed to do this on my arm, but this level of pressure and technique didn't affect my cheeks (which have more give and are not as flat / tight as an arm).
As a result, even if I was able to dab and dab paint on my skin, I couldn't really fade it out or even out the edges well. The only way to really "mix" would be to use any leftover primer from a brush or sponge to soften the edges, but it would look stained in the central area. Although the application looked sad, the paint lasted six hours. The formula was a complete failure over the foundation as it lifted the base products very quickly from the very first coat so that it only really showed up on bare skin.

The formula is said to have a "soft, matte finish" with a "clear, buildable cover" that is "perfectly distributed" and "beautifully blends and blends for a lasting second skin color". According to the brand, the formula can be applied with your fingertips or a brush, and I haven't had any luck with your fingertips at all. A brush was marginally better, but I couldn't get even coverage with any method or tool I tried.
The pressure it took to get a smooth application just didn't lend itself to an actual cheek application. I could cover my arm a little smoother and more evenly where I could really press and rub my skin, but it's not practical to do that with your cheek (which is less flat), especially when you have a base of products on (welcome in Lift City!).
The texture of the blush felt airy and frothy to the touch, but it pilled immediately upon contact with my skin and I just couldn't get it to smooth in practice. I tried applying the product to the back of my hand to warm it up, but it dried quickly and still quite pilled. When I applied the product to my skin, almost no coverage was available. When I tried to put on a cover, the first layer just squeezed or peeled off my skin, so the more I got into it, the worse it looked.
The little product that was translated (and bad as it looked) stayed there for six to seven hours before fading. They provided the sheer coverage, but they weren't buildable, blendable, smoothing, blurry, or durable.
