Earlier this year, Razer unveiled Project Hazel during CES 2021. For those who missed it, Project Hazel is a smart mask with protective features that help keep bad things in the air from getting into our bodies. At the time of launch, it was more of a proof of concept, but Razer really wants to make it a reality.

Speaking to Yahoo Finance UK, Min-Liang Tan, CEO of Razer, said the company is fully invested in making these masks a reality and that they will go into production. The mask was originally developed as a sustainable alternative to the current disposable masks that we use to protect ourselves against the coronavirus.

According to Tan, “We realized that even if you are vaccinated you still need to be masked as there is still a risk factor that you have to be incredibly careful even if you are vaccinated. Second, there are also many countries that are unlikely to get the whole thing [scale] of vaccinations over the next year or even two so everyone should be very careful when traveling. “

With this in mind, Razer decided to bring Project Hazel to life to solve the problem of disposable masks and sustainability. It’s unclear when Project Hazel will actually be available for purchase or how much it might cost, but it’s something to look forward to.
