Spotify publishes standalone app for Apple Watch

The problem with the Apple Watch is that users usually have to pair the smartwatch with an iPhone. The cellular version of the Apple Watch reduces the reliance on the iPhone, but when it comes to third-party apps, it's a mixed bag as the developer has to create a standalone app for the Apple Watch himself.

The good news for Spotify users is that you're delighted to learn that the company has since released a standalone app for the Apple Watch if you don't want to take your iPhone with you. This means that users can stream music from Spotify directly to their headphones through the Apple Watch app as long as the user has a connection such as WiFi or cellular data.

According to Spotify, they recently started delivering this update to their users. So if you haven't received the update yet, don't worry as it should get to you at some point. The company actually started testing the feature earlier this year, but it looks like they're more or less done and are currently making it available to more users.

So, if you appreciate the fact that you can stream your favorite music or podcasts without having to rely on being close to your iPhone, this is an update to look out for.
