This is Apple’s alleged roadmap for augmented reality wearables

It has long been rumored that Apple could plan its own augmented reality-based smart glasses. However, recent rumors suggest the company may be planning other mixed reality devices like an AR / VR headset as well. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, this is when we can possibly expect them.

In a notice to investors received from MacRumors, Kuo assumes that Apple will launch its mixed reality headset for the first time in mid-2022. To strangers, Apple’s mixed reality headset was a rumor that has surfaced in recent months. The concept is meant to be similar to other VR headsets, and Apple is positioning it for developers rather than the general public.

We can only assume that this is to encourage developers to create apps and tools for AR / VR to populate an ecosystem that will later be used by other devices. Then Kuo claims that Apple’s AR glasses won’t be out anytime soon and will most likely arrive by 2025, which means we’ll have to wait about four years.

Kuo had also previously suggested that Apple might be working on a pair of smart contact lenses, but hinted that this device won’t be out anytime soon and that in that case it will be around 2030.
