White House coronavirus advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci, will have a discussion with the Journal of the American Medical Association on Wednesday on the latest developments in the Covid-19 pandemic.
The US reports new record high cases every day as outbreaks occur in the Midwest. The U.S. reported 73,240 new cases on Tuesday, bringing the weekly average of new cases to about 71,832. This is a new record and an increase of more than 20% compared to a week ago. This comes from a CNBC analysis of the data collected by Johns Hopkins University.
Some parts of the country are relying on further restrictions to contain the spread of the virus. Illinois Governor J. B. Pritzker announced this Tuesday Chicago restaurants and bars will have to close their interiors on Friday. El Paso, Texas, put in place an earlier curfew to protect "overwhelmed and exhausted" hospitals and workers.
Meanwhile, the Trump administration has said it "will not control the pandemic" as the president continues to hold overcrowded rallies to finalize the November 3rd election. Trump has insisted the recent spike in cases was due to more Covid-19 testing, despite senior administrative officials saying otherwise.
