The World Health Organization holds a briefing on the coronavirus pandemic on Friday as cases accelerate in the US and Europe.
Earlier this week, WHO warned that the public will have to deal with the pandemic "in the long run" as cases continue to rise rapidly with no signs of slowing. As the northern hemisphere enters the fall and winter seasons, cases of Covid-19 are being accelerated by the international agency, particularly in Europe and North America, WHO director general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on Monday.
"I think everyone expects this to be over very, very quickly. This will take some time and I think we all have to be mentally prepared," said Maria Van Kerkhove, WHO technical director, also on Monday. "That shouldn't scare anyone, it should finish us off."
