Deep amethyst

Wayne Goss Deep Amethyst Eye Kohl Pencil ($ 14.00 for 0.04 oz.) Is a muted, darker burgundy with subtle, warm undertones and a flat, matte finish. If you could apply it in a straight, fluid line, it was more pigmented than not, but it was inconsistent to use. On my lower lash line, I was able to use the oblique position of the pencil in place of the tip to apply medium opacity that built up into a semi-opaque coverage.

The wear and tear was bleak; There was one product that had wandered and stuck in fine lines. Most of it disappeared from my waterline, or on my upper lash line, within four hours, and then there were fine flakes of burgundy rain under my eye. It has a very firm, stiff consistency, although it didn't feel as sharp when I used it on my lash line compared to my arm.

The formula is said to have a "fine tip" while still being able to "glide over the skin with a cream-silk feel" that doesn't scratch, pull, or skip and can be used to line the eyes "all over base" or along smeared on the lash line or applied to the waterline.

It's a sharper pencil that's a more "old-fashioned" formula when compared to softer, rounder pencils that are more waxy to the touch (often containing more silicone for gliding and sliding). For those who like more precise, thin lines but prefer a pencil format, this type of formula is more suitable. They also seemed to have more depth in actual colors and were definitely less prone to tugging / sharpening compared to some I've tried in the past.

They were more difficult for me to use on my waterline as the sharpness of the pencil made my waterline water. They had four to six hours of wear on my waterline and six to seven hours of wear on my lower lash line, but they faded faster and two shades were barely noticeable after nine hours of wear.

The formula gave good coverage in a single stroke and was buildable or mostly opaque when applied in shorter, overlapping strokes (which is really more of how I apply eyeliner).

Blue sapphire

Wayne Goss Blue Sapphire Eye Kohl Pencil ($ 14.00 for 0.04 oz.) Is a darker navy blue with strong, cool undertones and a flat, matte finish. It had medium pigmentation in a single layer that built up better in practice (on my lower lash line) than on my skin (where it just pushed the product around and looked like a travesty).

The pencil feels firmer and stiffer, and responds better to the waterline (with a little water) than it does to the lower lash line or skin (like my arm). It pulls and pulls easily and tickled my waterline personally. It got stuck in every fine line, though smeared a few times as it "set," peeled off, and transferred to my top waterline within four hours of wearing.
